Ishibutai Shrine in Matsuyama City is one of the three largest Hachiman-zukuri style shrines in Japan and is popular as a power spot for fulfilling wishes and warding off misfortune. Climbing the steep 135 stone steps reveals a beautiful view, and the vermilion-colored shrine, designated important cultural properties such as the gate and corridor, are also highlights. Additionally, you can feel the history of the shrine, which was a center for Japanese mathematics research, with the unusual dedication of 22 soroban (Japanese abacus) plaques from all over the country.
