Dogo Onsen

The hot springs at Dogo Onsen have an alkaline quality, with smooth water that is gentle on the skin, making it perfect for beauty purposes. There are a total of 18 springs, with source temperatures ranging from 20℃ to 55℃. The water is mixed to create the optimal temperature, combining cold and hot water. There are three hot springs available, including the Dogo Onsen Honkan, Asukano-yu, and Tsubaki no Yu, so you can enjoy the "Bijin no Yu" hot springs in your preferred location.

In Dogo Onsen, there are several places where you can enjoy hand and foot baths. Foot baths, in particular, have the effect of improving blood circulation and relieving the fatigue of your travels. You might want to try visiting a few different spots to find your favorite foot bath. There's even a "foot bath cafe" where you can enjoy light meals and drinks while soaking your feet.

At Dogo Onsen, there is a hot spring town where you can enjoy local gourmet food tours. You can try classic Ehime souvenirs such as "Botchan Dango" and "Mikan Juice," as well as local specialties like "Jakoten" fish cakes. Among them, the recommended dish is the tempura-fried "Ichiroku Tart." Freshly fried Ichiroku Tart is hard to find anywhere else. Be careful not to eat too much while on your food tour and miss out on the delicious meals at your ryokan.

Did you know that "Asukanoyu Onsen" has a new photogenic spot that opened in 2017? Here, installation works by photographer Mika Ninagawa are on display. The stylish work, featuring approximately 230 flower photos, is perfect for taking pictures. It's a limited-time exhibit until 2024, so now is your chance to check it out!

Dogo Onsen has many charming ryokans scattered throughout, making it difficult to choose. You can enjoy delicious ryokan meals at a historic and sophisticated hot spring inn, or stay in a room with a private outdoor hot spring bath. It's best to decide based on what you value most. There are also some unique hot springs, such as one where "orange juice" comes out of the faucet, so it's hard to choose!
