Kono Museum

The late Mr. Nobuichi Kono collected about 10,000 hanging scrolls, books, folding screens, and other items from the Heian period to the present day. We select works by people who have been active in various fields, such as Ashikaga Takauji, Toyotomi Hideyoshi's letters, Katsu Kaishu's writing, screens by the Tosa and Kano schools, and tanzaku by Matsuo Basho and Shiki Masaoka's disciples, and hold permanent and special exhibitions. In addition, the tea room on the premises is a genuine tea room with a replica of the national treasure "Matsu-an" of Myoki-an in Kyoto, and "Kakinoki-an" next to it.
