Nanatsugama is a sea cave located on a cape that juts out into the sea, named after the seven holes that open up into it. The magma that flowed out of the volcano rapidly cooled in the seawater, forming rare rock formations called columnar joints. These were then eroded by the rough waves of the Genkai Sea, creating the seven caves. You can tour the caves on the sightseeing boat, Ika-maru. You can also see them from underwater through activities such as snorkeling and diving, making it a natural cave system where you can enjoy the mysterious scenery!

Recommended Access by Car
For access to Nanatsugama, it is recommended to travel by car from JR Saga Station. Depending on the traffic conditions on the day, it takes about an hour and a half to get to Nanatsugama. You can also use public transportation (JR and buses) to get there. If you use public transportation, you can visit Nanatsugama in about 2 hours total, taking about 1 hour by train from JR Saga Station to JR Karatsu Station, and then about 1 hour by bus and on foot from there.
