Highlights

Point 1

Enjoy the Famous Jersey Milk Soft Serve Ice Cream!

Daikanbo Enjoy the Famous Jersey Milk Soft Serve Ice Cream!
At the Daikanbo Tea House near the parking lot of Daikanbo, you can try the specialty of Aso, the Koguni Jersey Milk Soft Serve Ice Cream. Jersey milk is said to have excellent quality in terms of nutrition, texture, and richness, with a refreshing aftertaste despite its richness. This soft serve ice cream uses such milk to create a deep flavor that you can enjoy. It's the perfect food to have after a drive or sightseeing when you're feeling tired.
Point 2

Lucky if You Encounter a Sea of Clouds

Daikanbo Lucky if You Encounter a Sea of Clouds
From Daikanbo, if the conditions are right, you can get a panoramic view of the sea of clouds that spreads over Aso in the early morning. It tends to occur in the early morning before dawn, when it's chilly in the morning and evening, or after the rain has stopped and there's a weak wind. It's said to be more likely to occur in the autumn. Also, even if you've gone all the way there, there may be times when there is no sea of clouds. However, there is a "real-time sea of clouds camera" installed in Aso, so it's a good idea to check the situation before heading there.
Point 3

Experience the Nature of Aso from Above with Paragliding

Daikanbo Experience the Nature of Aso from Above with Paragliding
At the nearby "Aso Nature Land," you can enjoy paragliding. We recommend the two-seater paraglider that takes off from the outer rim of Aso (elevation 450 meters). Even beginners can enjoy a safe and secure aerial stroll, as experienced instructors are available to guide you. You can enjoy a different view from the one seen from Daikanbo, so why not have fun with friends or loved ones?

A Scenic Spot with a Panoramic View of Aso's Landscape
Daikanbo is the best spot in Aso to enjoy breathtaking views, offering a 360-degree panoramic view. You can see the cityscape of Aso, Aso Gogaku (the five peaks of Aso), and the Kuju mountain range, allowing you to witness vast nature that is rarely seen in Japan. If you're lucky, you may even see a sea of clouds, creating a picturesque scene to enjoy.

Access

Daikanbo Recommended Access by Car
Recommended Access by Car
While it's possible to use public transportation to get to Daikanbo, it can be a bit difficult, so we recommend using a car to visit. It takes about 2 hours from Hakata Station (about 2 hours and 50 minutes by local roads), 1 hour and 40 minutes from Oita Station, and about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Kumamoto Station. It may feel a little far, but the route to Daikanbo allows you to drive while enjoying the vast nature of Aso, so you can enjoy the drive itself.

Parking

Daikanbo Abundant Free Parking Available
Abundant Free Parking Available
For travelers visiting by car, Daikanfeng has prepared free parking. There are two large parking lots, with about 40 spaces in front of the shop and about 90 spaces in the lot below. However, these two parking lots close at 5 pm, so if you want to stay after 5 pm, there is a parking lot outside the gate where you can park.
