The ruins of Yanagawa Castle exude a strong presence as remains of a modern castle that ruled over 330,000 koku of Chikugo Province. Even though the castle tower and inner moat are lost today, some of the earthen embankment remains and the town layout still exist, conveying historical value to visitors. The waterways and hand-washing basins are also highlights, and it is a historic castle site built by numerous lords from the Kamachi clan to the Tachibana clan. In addition, the park, known as a cherry blossom spot, offers the enjoyment of natural beauty.
