Kofu Castle was built on the orders of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and served as an important base to check the Kanto region. This castle, with its distinctive dark stone walls, is also a scenic spot where you can overlook the city of Kofu from the top of the main tower. It was also a place where samurai could relax in the hot springs. Today, the Inari Yagura and Yamate Watari Yagura gate have been restored and the castle is open to the public as "Maizuru Castle Park" and "Kofu City Historical Park". It's also worth noting the hybrid style of the castle, combining elements from before the Battle of Sekigahara with those of the Tokugawa period.
