Highlights

Point 1

Registered as a World Heritage Site, Mount Fuji!

Registered as a World Heritage Site, Mount Fuji!
At 3,776 meters high, beautiful Mount Fuji boasts the title of Japan's tallest mountain and is world-renowned. In 2013, it was registered as a World Cultural Heritage Site as a source of faith and art, and recognized as a symbol of Japan and Japanese culture. Not only the mountain itself, but also the shrines, climbing trails, and lakes in the surrounding area are registered as World Heritage Sites. Despite having erupted many times, the beauty of the natural wonder that was created over a long period of time can still be felt.
Point 2

Enjoy Japan's Best View from the Summit!

Mount Fuji Enjoy Japan's Best View from the Summit!
Watching the sunrise from the summit is called "Goraikou" in Japanese. Standing at Japan's highest point and witnessing the magnificent sunrise is one of the highlights of Mount Fuji! The sight of light gradually shining through the gaps in the sea of clouds is breathtakingly beautiful, and many people challenge themselves to climb Mount Fuji just to see this view. There are also several other spots on Mount Fuji where you can see the sunrise besides the summit. As the summit can get crowded in the morning, it's a good idea to do some research if you want to avoid the crowds.
Point 3

Challenge Yourself to Climb Mt. Fuji!

Mount Fuji Challenge Yourself to Climb Mt. Fuji!
Mt. Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan, is very popular among climbers! Climbing to the top is more grueling than you might think, but the view and sense of accomplishment from the summit are amazing. There are four routes to climb: Yoshida, Fujinomiya, Subashiri, and Gotemba, each with its own unique charm. Based on your climbing experience, it's best to choose the route that suits you. Mt. Fuji is said to have a temperature difference of 20℃ between the base and the summit, and there are various risks such as altitude sickness and hypothermia, in addition to temperature and physical strength. Don't take it lightly, and make sure to prepare thoroughly before taking on the challenge!
Point 4

Walking around the Crater on the "Ohachi-meguri" Trail

Mount Fuji Walking around the Crater on the "Ohachi-meguri" Trail
If you make it safely to the summit, we recommend taking a stroll around the crater on the "Ohachi-meguri" trail! You can walk the approximately 3km, 90-minute course while looking out over the crater, which has erupted in the past, and the stunning Japanese scenery. Along the way, there are plenty of sights to see, such as the Kengamine peak, Kusushi Shrine, the summit post office, and Fuji Okumiya. It's a good idea to enjoy the trail at your own pace, using mountain huts and rest spots along the way while considering your descent.
Point 5

Visit the Shrine near the Summit

Mount Fuji Visit the Shrine near the Summit
While there are many attractions at the top of Mt. Fuji, such as the Kengamine peak and the summit post office, one place you should definitely stop by is the "Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Okumiya" shrine. The shrine enshrines the Asama Great God (Konohana-no-sakuyahime-no-mikoto), who is said to have calmed the eruptions of Mt. Fuji and protects the safety of climbers and the Japanese nation. It's said that everything above the 8th station of Mt. Fuji is within the precincts of this shrine. Why not greet the deities and offer gratitude and prayers for safety while you're there?
Point 6

Enjoy Shopping and Gourmet Food at the 5th Station!

Mount Fuji Enjoy Shopping and Gourmet Food at the 5th Station!
On the climbing routes of Mt. Fuji, there are facilities such as shops and restaurants at each 5th station, but the Subaru Line 5th Station on the Yoshida route stands out with its variety of restaurants and souvenir shops. It's not only a great place to shop and eat before climbing Mt. Fuji, but also recommended for those who want to visit Mt. Fuji as a tourist attraction. Located at an altitude of 2,300 meters, about halfway up Mt. Fuji, the view is outstanding! You can enjoy the magnificent view of the sea of clouds without climbing to the summit on foot, as you can drive up to the 5th station. Original souvenirs that can only be purchased here and unique gourmet food inspired by Mt. Fuji are also a must-see!
Point 7

Enjoy a Spectacular View of Mt. Fuji from the Fuji Five Lakes

Mount Fuji Enjoy a Spectacular View of Mt. Fuji from the Fuji Five Lakes
At the foot of Mt. Fuji are five lakes known as the Fuji Five Lakes, and from their surroundings, you can see the spectacular views of Mt. Fuji, such as the sunrise and sunset as well as the fantastic Diamond Fuji in winter when the summit is bathed in the sun's rays. Lakes like Lake Motosu and Lake Yamanaka offer great views and are popular among photography enthusiasts. In addition, a fireworks festival is held every summer at Lake Kawaguchi, where you can see the collaboration of fireworks and Mt. Fuji. Each lake offers a slightly different angle to view Mt. Fuji and how it reflects on the water's surface, so why not try to find your favorite Mt. Fuji spot?

Required time

Mount Fuji If You're Going Hiking, Choose a 1-2 Night Course!
If You're Going Hiking, Choose a 1-2 Night Course!
First, let's talk about the time it takes to get to the fifth station. You can get there by car in about an hour from the Kawaguchiko IC on the Chuo Expressway. If you're only here for sightseeing, staying for 1-1.5 hours should be enough. If you're going to climb from the fifth station to the summit, you'll also stop at the climbing course. For beginners, it's said to take about 7-8 hours to climb up and 4-5 hours to climb down. However, there can be significant individual differences depending on changes in physical condition, such as stamina, sudden altitude sickness, or leg injuries. It's better to take it easy and choose a 1-2 night course where you can stay at a mountain hut!

Recommended attire

Mount Fuji Prepare Easy-to-Wear Climbing Clothes!
Prepare Easy-to-Wear Climbing Clothes!
The temperature difference between the foot and the summit of Mt. Fuji is about 20 degrees Celsius. Even in midsummer, the summit can drop to 0-5 degrees Celsius, so those who climb should bring easy-to-wear outerwear such as fleeces, rain gear, etc. in their backpacks. The weather also changes rapidly as you climb to the summit, and sudden rain is not uncommon. Also, since the summit is closer to the sun, UV rays are also strong, so avoid exposing your skin! Choose climbing clothes, hats, and shoes that are waterproof, warm, and durable!
