Hatta-ke Shoin

The Hatta Family Study in Fuefuki City is a historic thatched-roof, traditional Japanese-style building that was rebuilt using materials received from Tokugawa Ieyasu. In the serene space, visitors can enjoy the beautiful autumn foliage, and an original "tsurushi hina" decoration for Boys' Day in May is also displayed. The study was built by the wealthy Hatta family, who owned the land, to welcome guests, and to this day, it maintains its grandeur and charm.

At the Hatta Family Shoin, there is an inner room reserved for special guests only. This room is 10 tatami mats in size and is the most prestigious room. The hanging scroll in the tokonoma was written by the former head priest of Eirin-ji Temple with words from Lord Shingen, and the frame was written by the nobleman of the Sonno-joi movement, Tokugawa Tsunayoshi.
