Kamisuwa Onsen is a peaceful hot springs destination that can be reached in about 2 hours from the city center. Take the Azusa Limited Express from JR Shinjuku Station for about 2 hours and 10 minutes. The hot springs town is located about a 10-minute walk from JR Kamisuwa Station. When heading from the station to Kamisuwa Onsen, simply head towards Lake Suwa, so even first-time visitors should be able to find it relatively easily without getting lost. If your lodging is far from the station, it's a good idea to check with the hotel to see if they offer a dedicated shuttle bus.
