Shrine located on the border between Nagano and Gunma prefectures
One of the three major Kumano shrines in Japan, Kumano Taisha Grand Shrine, is located at the top of the Usui Pass. It stands on the border between Nagano and Gunma prefectures, and is a very rare shrine known as "Kumano Taisha Grand Shrine" on the Nagano side and "Kumano Shrine" on the Gunma side. Inside the shrine grounds, there is a 1000-year-old sacred tree called Shinano-ki, and the shrine is famous as a mysterious power spot.
