Shintokukan in Ina City is a school that once trained samurai. The founder, Naito Yorinao, aimed for a spirit that combined both literary and martial arts, and you can still sense this today as they learned a wide range of subjects from Chinese classics to Jujutsu. Although the building itself is off-limits, you can feel the atmosphere of the time by viewing the scenery from the backyard and the double-flowered cherry blossoms blooming in the courtyard. This place, which has produced many great people and contributed to the development of education in Shinshu, is recommended as a travel spot that deepens understanding of Japanese culture.
