The hotel itself was lovely and beautiful. The hotel staff were perfect, excellent service. The gardens were beautiful. I enjoyed the pool and hot tub. But I was so disappointed with the service we received at their restaurant, Le Jardin. Part of why I booked this hotel, was I saw they had catered to vegans in the past. In my booking reservation, I made note one guest would be vegan. When I called about making a reservation for high tea, I asked if one could be made vegan, and they apologized and said no. I was disappointed, but understood. When I arrived at the hotel, I thought I would ask the restaurant staff about making a reservation for the next day, and asked if it could be made vegan. The staff told me yes, it could be vegan for two people. I was delighted and made a reservation for the next day. The next night, after we were seated, I asked again to check that the high tea would be vegan. After quite a wait, the staff came back and apologized, no, they could not make it vegan. They showed me another menu which did have some vegan options and I ordered from that. The service was terribly slow. I'm not sure if they had to bring the food from a different restaurant because it was vegan? I also had to ask the staff to clear the table of the dirty dishes. We then wanted to order dessert, and we asked for the vegan menu again. The staff told us, "no vegan menu", even though they had shown us it? Again, slow service. I was disappointed and teary from the experience.
