Overall a good traditional Japanese ryokan experience for a good price.
Lobby
From the moment we arrived, we were received with a bowl of green tea and delicious mango Japanese sweets. The view from the lobby lounge was beautiful with the snow along the river.
Room
The Japanese style room was quite large and comfortable with a great view over the river as well. Just don't leave the window open, because there was a sign that bugs and even monkeys could climb into the room.
Onsen
The large baths were very refreshing. The best by far was the outdoor bath that looked over the river. However this bath was not available the next morning, as they changed men's and women's baths from morning to evening.
Food
The protions for dinner were quite large, and included many local specialties. Howeveru, drinks were not included and were relatively overpriced. Breakfast the next morning was very traditional and included both warm and cold dishes.
