Highlights

Point 1

Explore Nature with a Guide

Sarushima Explore Nature with a Guide
For those who want to enjoy the nature and history of Sarushima even more deeply, we recommend the "Exploration" tour of the uninhabited island, Sarushima. With a guide who knows everything about Sarushima, you can explore the forest and see brick structures that evoke a sense of history. The participation fee is 600 yen per person, and at Mikasa Terminal, a ticket that includes a boarding pass and admission fee is available for 100 yen off. The tour takes about 30 minutes.
Point 2

Enjoy Playing in the Tide Pools

Sarushima Enjoy Playing in the Tide Pools
At Sarushima, you can enjoy playing in the tide pools during the summer. Children love to find crabs and small fish in the crevices of the rocks. The areas where you can play in the tide pools have many rocky areas and steep slopes. When playing, please enjoy it with a guardian. It's also safer to wear marine shoes or other sturdy footwear.
Point 3

Enjoy a Barbecue with a Sea Breeze

Sarushima Enjoy a Barbecue with a Sea Breeze
At Sarushima, you can enjoy a barbecue while feeling the sea breeze. Equipment reservations can be made on the official website one month in advance, and on the day of use, you can receive the equipment and enjoy a barbecue at your favorite spot on the beach. In addition to bringing your own ingredients, you can also apply to the "Yokosuka Central Kitchen" to receive locally produced vegetables and seafood caught in Yokosuka. The popularity of Sarushima is due to the delicious ingredients that are locally sourced and produced, such as vegetables and seafood.
Point 4

Enjoy Fishing in the Sea

Sarushima Enjoy Fishing in the Sea
The waters around Sarushima are home to fish such as black porgy, horse mackerel, rockfish, and seabass, making it possible to enjoy fishing from the coast. The rocky area near the beach observatory on the northeast side of Sarushima is recommended as a fishing spot. For beginners, fishing rod sets are available for rent, so you can go to the island empty-handed. The rental fee is 2,000 yen (2,300 yen from December to February), and a flyer explaining how to fish and set up your gear is also provided.
Point 5

Enjoy Takeout Gourmet

Sarushima Enjoy Takeout Gourmet
If you get hungry during your visit to Sarushima Island, be sure to stop by the only takeout restaurant on the island, "Oceans Kitchen." Here, you can enjoy dishes such as "Yokosuka Navy Curry," which makes generous use of vegetables from Yokosuka, and "Shirasu and Tuna Pickled Bento," which uses Misaki tuna. When you're feeling a little peckish, we recommend the curry-flavored "Yokosuka Pride Potato" or the "Local Fish Fry," which goes perfectly with tartar sauce. Alcoholic beverages such as Sarushima Beer and Yokosuka Beer are also available, making it a great option for those who enjoy a drink.
