At Sakamoto Castle Ruins Park in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, you can visit the historical Sakamoto Castle ruins built by Akechi Mitsuhide during the Warring States period. The castle, built in the form of a water castle with magnificent large and small towers, was once a phantom castle, but the remains of the stone walls can be seen during times of drought in Lake Biwa. This place was also used for tea ceremonies and received high praise second only to Nobunaga's Azuchi Castle. You can also see monuments such as the "Mitsuhide's Determination" stone monument and the Akechi mound.
