The Byobu-iwa Rock in Hino-cho, Shiga Prefecture, is a breathtaking scenic spot created by the smooth giant rocks of the Mino-Tamba belt. The one-piece rock, which is 9 meters high and 30 meters wide, looks like four folding screens standing side by side. This historic rock, which has been used as a building material since the Edo period, is also a nationally designated natural monument. The smooth surface, clear layering, and joint patterns create a beautiful design that overwhelms visitors. The location of the castle ruins is also characteristic, surrounded by abundant nature while conveying a sense of silence and grandeur.
