Tanada showcases a photogenic primitive landscape.
This magnificent rural landscape cannot be described simply as "instagrammable". In the spring, the rapeseed flowers sway, in early summer the rice paddies become a mirror of water, and in the autumn, golden rice stalks and bright red spider lilies spread out. From the Asakaze Pass, which offers a panoramic view of the terraced rice fields, you can see Mount Futakami, Mount Katsuragi, and Mount Kongō.

Inabukaiden Inabuchi Tanada: A Beautiful View Spreads Out
Inabuchi Tanada, located in Asuka Village, Nara Prefecture, is a place where a beautiful landscape selected as one of Japan's top 100 terraced rice fields spreads out. It is formed by more than 300 rice paddies and fields, strongly preserving the original scenery of the rural area. In spring, you can enjoy the yellow rapeseed flowers, and in autumn, the red spider lilies bloom, allowing you to appreciate various flowers throughout the seasons. From the Tanada Observatory on the north side of the rice terraces, you can overlook Inabuchi Tanada. Inabuchi Tanada is said to have been developed from the Heian period to the Muromachi period. You will undoubtedly be moved by the beautiful scenery of the traditional Satoyama that has been passed down since ancient times.

The Autumn Scarecrow Contest is a Must-See!

Inabukaiden The Autumn Scarecrow Contest is a Must-See!
From around September to mid-November every year, many scarecrows line the Inabuchi Tanada, also known as the "Scarecrow Road." The scarecrows are created based on the theme of the year, which is chosen to reflect the current trends and issues. Themes in the past have included "World Peace" and "Scarecrows that look good in masks." All of the scarecrows are made from materials that are as environmentally friendly as possible and are full of charm. The winning entries are decided at the Higanbana Festival held in late September, and the winners receive newly harvested rice from the Inabuchi Tanada as a prize. Please come and find your favorite scarecrow.

At the "Sakata no Tanada" adjacent to Inafuchi's terraced rice fields, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the village below and Mount Futagami in the distance. Also, from "Hosokawa no Tanada" and "Kamimura no Tanada," where the terraced rice fields and the sunset collaborate beautifully, you can enjoy the serene and beautiful scenery each has to offer. Asuka Village's terraced rice fields have been passed down and protected by the efforts of local residents and terraced rice field owners. Please enjoy touring the terraced rice fields while feeling the connection with people beyond time and space.

Parking

Inabukaiden Use the Bus to Visit the Rice Terraces, Where Parking is Prohibited
Use the Bus to Visit the Rice Terraces, Where Parking is Prohibited
Parking is prohibited around the rice terraces, so it's recommended to use the paid parking lot at Ishibutai Kofun or take the shuttle bus or rent a bicycle. The shuttle bus, called "Kame Bus," departs from either Kintetsu Kashihara Jingu-mae Station or Asuka Station and takes about 30 minutes on foot after getting off at Ishibutai Bus Stop. Rental bicycles are also available around Kintetsu Asuka Station. Since there are many hills, it's easier to move around with an electric bicycle.
