Kinkaku-ji is a temple of the Rinzai sect's Shokoku-ji school, famous for its golden pavilion.
The formal name of this Rinzai sect temple is Rokuon-ji. The golden pavilion of the Shariden is a popular spot registered as a world heritage site. There are many attractions within the precincts, such as the seasonal scenery of the Ashihara garden and the Hojo.
