Quiet area, right next to the coast and the Akita tower (which is free to visit at anytime, even at night when the shops close). Supermarket right next door. This area is more suburban, but still a handful of small restaurants nearby. 10 to 15 minute walk from Tsuchizaki train station. Not walkable from downtown Akita. You need to take the train or bus to get to Akita, but the train is very convenient.
Breakfast was excellent. Lots of options even if you are vegetarian. Less options if you are vegan, but you can still eat some of the options they have on hand. They serve different foods everyday, so there is variety.
The hot baths are excellent. They segregate the baths by sex (two completely separate rooms). The female baths are kept locked and the key is kept at the front desk. I appreciated this, as I felt safe using the hot baths since I can use the key to lock the door behind me after I enter.
