The Yamagoshiuchi Checkpoint was the northernmost checkpoint in Japan that regulated the border between Ezo and Wajin. Although it is now abolished, it has high historical value and is worth visiting. There is also the legendary "night-crying stone" in the surrounding area, allowing you to feel the history of Hokkaido. It's only a 3-minute walk from the station, making it recommended for travelers as well.
