Bofu Tenmangu Shrine

Boufutenmangu Shrine is one of Japan's three great Tenmangu shrines, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning. The precincts are filled with many impressive buildings. Many festivals are held here, including the Setsubun Festival on February 25th and the Tenjin Festival on May 25th. The shrine's seal is also popular, and it is introduced on a pilgrimage record sharing site called Hotokami. There are many historical sights to see in Boufu city, including Boufutenmangu Shrine.

At Boufutenmangu Shrine's Oishidan, an event called "Boufutenmangu Shrine Oishidan Flower Corridor" is held every year from mid-April to mid-May. The beautiful flower corridor, created with potted flowers spelling out the word "happiness," surrounded by flowers, is sure to captivate all who see it. In addition, there are about 2,000 plum trees on the shrine grounds, and a plum festival is held from February to March.

Boufutenmangu Shrine is said to bring blessings for business prosperity and academic success. They also sell amulets for traffic safety, making it a recommended spot for those who want to avoid traffic accidents. In addition, their stamp book is popular, with the ones featuring plum blossoms being particularly beautiful.

In Hofu city, there are many historic tourist spots, including Hofu Tenmangu Shrine and the ruins of the Mori clan's residence and gardens, among others. The Hofu Machi no Eki "UmeteRasu" also offers tourist information, exhibitions, and a souvenir corner featuring local specialties.

After a 45-minute drive from Hofu Tenmangu Shrine, you will arrive at Akiyoshidai. Akiyoshidai is a karst plateau, Japan's largest, formed from limestone and other materials, and is designated as a national park and a special natural monument. A scenic drive to enjoy the breathtaking views of Akiyoshidai is also recommended.
