The Shinkoyama Castle Ruins in Mihara City is a mountain castle from the Sengoku period built by Takakage Kobayakawa. The entire mountain was fortified, with over 60 baileys in total. From this castle ruin, built on a sheer cliff, you can see the Takayama Castle Ruins on the opposite bank of the Numata River. There are also historical remains and turret ruins that history buffs won't want to miss, and if you wear trekking shoes and follow the mountain trail, you'll reach the main castle ruins. It's a spot where you can enjoy exploring history along with the rich nature.
