Miwa Somen

Miwa is said to be the birthplace of somen noodles, which were born from the revelation of the Oomiwa Shrine, the oldest shrine in Japan, about 1200 years ago. It is said that it spread throughout the country from people who visited there on their way to Ise. Miwa somen is characterized by its strong texture and the fact that it is not easily stretched even after boiling.
