Oga, Hachirogataとは
Oga is known as the holy land of "Namahage," a symbol of Akita. You can meet Namahage at various events and festivals throughout the city, but the "Namahage Museum" is a popular spot where you can learn about Namahage culture and even transform yourself into a Namahage for a photo shoot. The Oga Peninsula faces the Sea of Japan, so there are many unique attractions such as the "Oga Aquarium GAO," where you can meet many creatures such as polar bears and penguins, and the "Godzilla Rock," where you can take photos with the sunset sky and a rock shaped like Godzilla breathing fire. There are also many beaches, ice fishing for smelt in Lake Hachirogata, and delicious seafood that can only be enjoyed in a town adjacent to the sea.
