Minamiaizuとは
The town of Minamiaizu is known as a "treasure trove of important cultural properties" and is rich in natural tourist spots such as Takashimizu Natural Park. Ouchi-juku, where more than 30 thatched-roof houses line up, is a representative spot of Minamiaizu town, where you can enjoy a nostalgic scenery. The specialty of Ouchi-juku, "Negi soba," is served with a whole leek sticking out of the bowl, and you use the leek as chopsticks to eat the noodles and leek together, making it a dish with a great impact!

This post town was developed as a post town connecting Aizu and Nikko, and was bustling with many daimyos and travelers. The townscape retains the form of a lodging station from the Edo period and has been designated as an "Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings". Thatched-roof houses line the mountainous area, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of the post town from that time.
