Sukayu Onsen is a hot spring located in Aomori Prefecture. The bathhouse features a large cypress bath called the "Hiba Senjin Bath," which is made entirely of cypress wood and measures 160 tatami mats in size. Visitors can enjoy four different types of hot springs, including hot water, cold water, a 60/40 mix of hot and cold water, and a waterfall bath. This hot spring has been healing people for over 300 years, with a sacred spring that has flowed to soothe many people. The overwhelming space made of cypress wood without a single pillar creates a sense of unity with nature that transcends time. There are multiple ways to access Suan Gaya Hot Springs. Please use the transportation method that best suits your travel purpose. By plane: About 1 hour by car from Aomori Airport. There are no direct buses. By highway: About 40 minutes from Aomori Chuo IC, about 50 minutes from Aomori IC, and about 45 minutes from Kuroishi IC. By train/bus: About 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes by JR bus from Aomori Station or Shin-Aomori Station, and about 1 hour 30 minutes by JR bus from Towada Lake Kyuya. The JR bus timetable can be checked on the official website. By taxi: About 45 minutes from Aomori city center, with a fare of about 7,000 to 8,000 yen. Free shuttle bus: Available only for guests staying at the accommodation. Reservation is required. It runs between Aomori Station Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Seven-Eleven) and Suan Gaya. The travel time is about 60 minutes, departing from Aomori Station Chamber of Commerce and Industry at 10:15 and 14:00, and departing from Suan Gaya at 8:50 and 12:30.
