Meiji Mura is an open-air museum where Meiji-era architecture is the main focus, with buildings from the Taisho and early Showa periods also being relocated and preserved. There are various buildings to see, such as the "Imperial Hotel" designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, a master of 20th century architecture, the "St. Xavier's Church" with beautiful stained glass in a Gothic style, and houses that were rented by Meiji literary figures Mori Ogai and Natsume Soseki. One of the museum's features is that you can not only see historically significant buildings from the outside, but also enter and tour the inside of the buildings. In 1872, the first railway in Japan opened and operated between Shinbashi and Yokohama. At Meiji Village, steam locomotives No. 12 and No. 9, which have been running since that time, connect "SL Nagoya Station" and "SL Toukyau Station".
