This is a long beach that stretches for 1km right near the Senami Onsen town. There are accommodation facilities such as inns and hotels, as well as day trip hot springs near the beach, where you can soothe your tired body after playing in the sea. One of the attractions is being able to see Sado and Awashima on a clear day.

Beautiful Long Beach Selected as One of Japan's Top 100 Beaches for Swimming

Every year, over 50,000 beach-goers visit the approximately 1km-long beach located just behind the Senami Onsen town. The "Top 100 Beaches for Swimming in Japan" is a selection of water bodies chosen by the Ministry of the Environment in 2006, based on the criteria of good water quality. Senami Onsen Beach was chosen for this list due to its excellent water quality. When swimming in the sea, you can see far into the distance, making it a very pleasant experience. In addition, the long beach of over 1km is beautifully maintained by the locals, and you can enjoy both the beautiful scenery and beach activities such as sand play and barbecues, even without entering the sea!

Parking

Two Parking Lots Available at the North and South Entrances!

There are three entrances to Senami Onsen Beach, each with its own parking lot. In total, there is space for 300 cars, so it's unlikely that you won't find a parking spot. The closest entrance from Niigata City is the south entrance, where you can find showers, toilets, and changing rooms, allowing you to get ready to swim as soon as you get out of your car. Please note that the central entrance facility doesn't have a parking lot. The largest parking lot is at the north entrance. Not only is the parking lot spacious, but the facilities, including showers, toilets, changing rooms, and water fountains, are also the most comprehensive here. If you're visiting for the first time, we recommend using this entrance.

Creatures

Beware of Jellyfish after Obon!

Not only at Senami Onsen Beach, but at all beaches in Niigata Prefecture, jellyfish tend to appear in large numbers after the Obon period. Not all jellyfish are highly poisonous, but it's better to be cautious. The water at Senami Onsen Beach is so clear that jellyfish can be seen with the naked eye, so it's recommended to swim with caution and check for jellyfish when swimming after mid-August.

Access

Convenient Access from Niigata Station via the Inaho Limited Express!

If traveling by car, get off at the Murakami-Senami Onsen IC on the Nihonkai Tohoku Expressway and it's about a 10-minute drive. If traveling by train, go to JR Murakami Station and take a bus from there. Get off at "Senami Kaigan-mae" and it's about a 1-minute walk. If coming from Tokyo, take the Shinkansen to JR Niigata Station, transfer to the JR Hakushin Line, and it takes about an hour and a half by local train. There is also an Inaho Limited Express from Niigata Station, so please use it according to your schedule.
