Ayaya no Daimon

Omoden in Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is a cave formed by erosion of rocks jutting out into the sea, designated as a natural monument by the government. It cannot be seen from the land, but can be viewed by sightseeing boat. From the observation deck on top of the cave, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful sea and sandy beach. You can enjoy a dynamic and impressive view. However, depending on the condition of the sea, the boat may be cancelled, so it is recommended to check in advance by phone or other means.

From Akya Fishing Port, sightseeing boats depart to the Omon of Akya from mid-March to November. The scenic beauty of the Meisho Kiigan, designated as a natural monument of Japan, reveals a complex rock surface to tourists as they approach. The 25-minute round-trip sightseeing boat not only offers a view of the Omon of Akya, but also the ocean view of the entire Itoshima area. Enjoy the magnificent nature of Itoshima while feeling as if you are driving along the coast.

At the top of Akaya no Daimon Park, also known as Totoro Forest in Itoshima, there is an observation deck where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Genkai Sea. Especially recommended is the fantastic view of the sun setting on the horizon during dusk. Of course, taking your time to enjoy the beautiful scenery is a must, but it's also a great idea to take a luxurious commemorative photo with the Genkai Sea as your background to create memories of your trip.

Near "Akuya no Daimon" is the hidden gem of Itoshima, "Akuya no Daimon Park". In addition to the previously mentioned observation deck, the park also features the "Oso Shrine" where you can see the sea up close, and a mystical walking trail that seems like it came straight out of a Studio Ghibli film. Especially recommended for those who want to experience the nature of Itoshima, the walking trail is perfect. However, there are some areas with uneven footing, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes when strolling along the trail.
