In Yunishikawa Onsen in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, there is a dam called Yunishikawa Dam. This dam has a huge scale with a dam height of 119.0m and a dam length of 320m, and you can see a beautiful landscape along with the surrounding nature. In addition, the Yunishikawa Duck Tour is a popular activity, where you can ride on a duck (amphibious vehicle) and move around the road that runs around the dam, enjoying the view from the top of the dam and the surrounding nature. Ryuou Gorge, located about a 25-minute drive from Yunosawa Onsen, is a scenic spot with a hiking trail that stretches for about 2km and features beautiful valleys and waterfalls formed by volcanic rocks eroded by the river. Walking on the boardwalk and trekking while feeling the mist from the waterfall is full of exhilaration. Depending on the season, the autumn foliage and fresh greenery are also beautiful, allowing you to feel the beauty of nature. There are many nature-rich walking trails around Yunishigawa Onsen. Among them, we recommend the Mount Mae trekking course. Mount Mae is located in front of Yunishigawa Onsen and has an altitude of 1001 meters. From the summit, you can see the Nikko Mountains, Nasu Mountains, and Mount Tsukuba. The trekking course has two routes: one takes about 1 hour on foot from Yunishigawa Onsen to the summit, and the other takes about 3 hours. Along the way, you'll see beautiful nature, such as waterfalls, streams, and tree tunnels. In particular, walking along the stream in Yunishigawa Valley provides a pleasant trekking experience with a refreshing breeze and the sound of flowing water. From the summit, you can enjoy a 60-degree panoramic view. In particular, during the autumn foliage season, you can enjoy a colorful view. For those confident in their physical strength, there is also a course to descend from the summit to Yunishigawa Onsen town.
