Naruto and the surrounding area of Tokushima City

The Awa Odori, representing Tokushima, is a big summer festival with a 400-year history. Tourists can dance along with the locals in an exciting atmosphere, especially the Sodancer at Minami-cho Enbujo is a must-see. The whirlpools of the Naruto Strait, one of the three largest tidal currents in the world, are very famous as a natural wonder that lasts only a few hours a day. The most recommended gourmet food is the sweet and nutritious satsuma imo (sweet potato) called "Naruto Kintoki." In particular, the Naruto Kintoki manju (sweet bun) is so delicious that you need to be careful not to overeat.
