Oboke, Koboke, Iya Valley

The Oboke and Koboke valleys, carved by the raging Yoshino River over 200 million years, are a dynamic landscape of rocks that stretch out, and the clear emerald green river water shows various expressions depending on the season. In the secluded Iya Valley, surrounded by the dynamic natural scenery of deep mountains and valleys, you can experience the traditional Japanese mountain life. One of Japan's three strange bridges, the "Kazura Bridge in Iya," is a suspension bridge designated as an important tangible folk cultural property of the country, said to have been built by the Heike refugees to prevent the pursuit of their enemies. Walking on it makes a creaking sound and sways, and it is a thrilling spot where you can also see the river surface.
