Meiji Shrine is a shrine with various benefits such as good luck, business prosperity, and success in exams, but it is said to be particularly strong in matters of love. The enshrined deities of Meiji Shrine are Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken, who were a very close couple. Therefore, it is said that Meiji Shrine has strong benefits for love. Near the main hall, there is a pair of camphor trees called "Couple's Trees," which warmly watch over visitors.

As you walk down the Minami-sando approach, you'll see shelves lined with many sake barrels. The number of barrels is an impressive 216, boasting one of the largest numbers of dedications in Japan. There are various types of barrels, such as those with powerful brush writing and those that are colorful and stylish, making it possible to spend an hour or even two just looking at them. On the opposite side of the sake barrel shelves, there are also wine barrel shelves. It may seem strange to have wine at a shrine, but this is because the wine was dedicated due to the influence of Emperor Meiji, who was fond of it.

Learn about the History of Meiji Jingu at the Meiji Jingu Museum

The Meiji Jingu Museum, which opened in the first year of Reiwa, allows visitors to view valuable items related to the history of Meiji Jingu, as well as items related to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Exhibits include the six-horse-drawn carriage that Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken rode in, as well as the Emperor's personal desk. The museum plays a role in passing on the history of the deities enshrined at Meiji Jingu to future generations.

Representative Shrine of Japan near the Station

Meiji Shrine is a shrine with excellent access, as it has four nearby stations: Meiji-jingumae Station, Sangubashi Station, Harajuku Station, and Kitasando Station. The main shrine is located in the center of the grounds and is about a 10-minute walk from each station. However, it's not possible to enter the shrine from the Sangubashi or Harajuku entrances. You can only enter from the Yoyogi or Kitasando entrances, which are the closest to Yoyogi Station and Kitasando Station, respectively. The grounds are lush with greenery, and you'll feel refreshed as you make your way towards the main shrine.

初めて明治神宮を参拝しましたが、想像以上に広くてびっくり！都会の真ん中にこんなに緑が広がっているなんて、本当に素敵な場所でした。御祈願もしていただき、おみくじ（「大御心」）も引いて、とても貴重な体験ができました。おみくじは吉凶ではなく和歌が書かれていて、持ち帰るスタイルです。入り口付近にはストリートパフォーマーもいて、楽しい雰囲気でした。アクセスも抜群で、原宿駅を出てすぐに入り口があるのでとても便利。年に一度は必ず参拝したいと思います！都会の喧騒を忘れてリフレッシュできるおすすめスポットです。

夕方に明治神宮を参拝しました。日中に比べて人も少なく、静かで空気も澄んでいて、とても落ち着いた雰囲気でした。今回は初めて亀石まで行けて、小さな発見のようで嬉しかったです。清正井にも行こうと思っていたのですが、時間が足りず断念…。また次の機会にゆっくり訪れたいと思います。本殿では、個人と法人の両方のご祈祷をお願いしました。厳かな雰囲気の中で心が整うような感覚があり、やっぱり来てよかったなと感じました。表参道から入って本殿へ向かう道も、夕暮れ時の光に包まれてとてもきれいでした。時間帯によってまったく違う印象になるのも明治神宮の魅力のひとつですね。

初めて行きました。平日の14:00ごろに行きました。ほとんどの観光客が外人さんで、かなりの人数で混んでました。神社内はかなり広く、だいぶ歩いて本殿まで行きました。宝物殿まで行きましたが、開いていなくそのまま帰って来ましたが、宝物殿の前の広場では、横になってゆっくりしている人や、ピクニック的な感じで過ごしてる人もいて癒される感じの場所です。広場では、結構広かったです。御朱印も頂きました。外人さんも御朱印帳を持っていて、御朱印を集めているみたいで、見せ合っていたのにビックリしました。
