Highlights

Point 1

Enjoy the Hot Springs in Hakone, Passed Down Since the Nara Period!

Hakone Yumoto Onsen Enjoy the Hot Springs in Hakone, Passed Down Since the Nara Period!
Hakone Yumoto Onsen is the oldest hot spring among the Hakone Twenty Springs, with its opening dating back to the Nara period. Approximately 8,000 tons of hot spring water is discharged every day, and it is gentle on the skin due to its simple alkaline composition. There are many facilities where you can enjoy day trips to the hot springs, allowing you to relax and soak in the hot springs while enjoying the nature of Hakone. "Yuyujo Hakone no Yu" is popular for allowing pets to enjoy the hot springs, with an outdoor bath exclusively for dogs. Soaking in the hot springs with your beloved pet will provide even more healing! Of course, the outdoor bath for dogs is also a self-sourced hot spring.
Point 2

Enjoy a Stay at a Hotel with Plenty of Hot Springs!

Hakone Yumoto Onsen Enjoy a Stay at a Hotel with Plenty of Hot Springs!
There are many facilities around Hakone-Yumoto Station where you can enjoy day trips to hot springs and foot baths, but it's also recommended to stay at a hotel and fully enjoy the hot springs. In particular, "Hakone Yumoto Onsen Tenseien" is an inn that you'll want to visit on a special day, where you can soak in an open-air bath while overlooking the mountains of Hakone. There are also rooms with open-air baths, making it popular among those who want to relax with family or loved ones without worrying about their surroundings. The buffet for dinner and breakfast offers a variety of dishes using seasonal ingredients, ensuring that both your stomach and heart will be satisfied. As a guest, you have the privilege of waking up a little early and enjoying the sunrise from the rooftop open-air bath!
Point 3

Famous Spot for Black Eggs!

Hakone Yumoto Onsen Famous Spot for Black Eggs!
There are many tourist spots near Hakone Yumoto! Among them, the specialty of Owakudani, the "black egg," is popular, said to extend one's lifespan by seven years if you eat one. The reason for the black color is that hot spring minerals adhere to the eggshell during boiling, causing a chemical reaction. As such, the "black egg" is a local food unique to hot spring areas, so please try it when you visit Hakone Yumoto! "Black eggs" are currently only sold at Owakudani Kurotamago-kan and Gokuraku Chaya, both within walking distance from Owakudani Station. It's also fun to walk around Owakudani and head to the shops.
Point 4

Enjoy the Full Beauty of Hakone's Nature!

Hakone Yumoto Onsen Enjoy the Full Beauty of Hakone's Nature!
There are many scenic spots around Hakone Yumoto where you can fully enjoy nature. These include Hakone Shrine, which is known as one of the Kanto region's power spots with its attractive torii gate floating on the lake and the greenery of Hakone, and the Hakone Ropeway, where you can take a leisurely ride from Sounzan Station to Gora Station and enjoy views of Mt. Fuji and Lake Ashinoko. You can also enjoy various natural activities, such as cruising on the Hakone Pirate Ship, a large-scale tourist boat modeled after a battleship. After arriving in Hakone Yumoto, it's recommended to take a quick dip in the hot springs, tour the surrounding area, and then soak in the hot springs again to heal your tired body before leaving.
Point 5

Enjoy a Food Tour in the Shopping District in Front of the Station!

Hakone Yumoto Onsen Enjoy a Food Tour in the Shopping District in Front of the Station!
In front of Hakone-Yumoto Station, there is a shopping district that is especially lively on weekends and holidays with tourists and locals alike. The shopping district has various souvenir shops and snack shops, making it perfect for those who want to enjoy a food tour while sightseeing! The "Gran Livier Hakone" specialty store for rusks is particularly popular for its "Honey Cheese Tart," which can only be purchased at the Yumoto store. There are also various other shops, such as "Te-Yaki-Do," which is popular for its large, heart-shaped rice crackers, "Kago-ya Seijiro," an established kamaboko (fish cake) shop with voluminous fried kamaboko, and "Hakone Yumoto Eva-ya," where you can enjoy sweets inspired by the world of the anime "Evangelion." Some shops close early, so we recommend visiting around noon for those who want to enjoy the shopping district to the fullest!

Take the Romancecar when Visiting from Tokyo
Hakone Yumoto Onsen is located in Kanagawa Prefecture and can be reached by taking the Odakyu Romancecar from Shinjuku or Kitasenju. Enjoy the scenery on a short trip to Hakone Yumoto. Access from the Kansai region is also easy. Take the JR Tokaido Shinkansen "Nozomi" or "Kodama" from Shin-Osaka or Kyoto Station to Odawara Station, then take the Hakone Tozan Line for about 15 minutes to arrive at Hakone Yumoto Station. Parking

Hakone Yumoto Onsen Parking is Divided by Area!
Parking is Divided by Area!
There are mainly six parking areas around Hakone-Yumoto for cars, and it's reassuring to check in advance as the time and fees differ depending on the location. Hakone Sightseeing Parking (East/West) is a parking lot close to the station, but the capacity is small, with only 17 cars in the East and 15 cars in the West. As it's also used by those who use the shopping street in front of the station, there is a high possibility of it being full. Therefore, it's recommended to use the Hakone Nakamachi Parking Lot or the Domon Free Parking Lot. The Hakone Nakamachi Parking Lot is located in front of Sounji Temple in Hakone-machi Yumoto and the parking fee is 400 yen every 4 hours within 48 hours, with a maximum of 1,000 yen per day. In addition, the Domon Free Parking Lot is located about 10 minutes away from Hakone-Yumoto Station, and the attractive point is that it's open 24 hours and you can park for free.
