Amagi Promenade

The Amagi Promenade and Amagi Trail are hiking courses that even beginners can enjoy with peace of mind. Starting from the Mizusho Bridge over the Motoyagawa River, the hiking course extends to the famous Izu waterfall, Joren Falls, with a total length of about 3.5 km. Although it's a promenade located in a nature-rich area, many places have paved paths, making it relatively easy to walk. The endpoint, the waterfall, and the sights along the way are also full of attractions, so if you have confidence in your physical strength, please try walking the course.

The charm of the Tenjyo Promenade lies in its rich waterside scenery, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Along the promenade, you can enjoy views unique to the Tenjyo Promenade, such as the "Iwao Dam," the scenery along the river viewed from a suspension bridge, and the "Wasabi Fields" where Izu's specialty wasabi is grown, all with the backdrop of a flowing stream. Even in the hot summer months, there are plenty of shaded areas and the proximity to the waterside provides a cool breeze, making the Tenjyo Promenade a unique destination.

The area around Mt. Amagi, where the Amagi Promenade is located, is known as one of Izu's best spots for autumn foliage. The promenade is at its peak from early November to early December, with some areas starting as early as late October. The area's high altitude means that it reaches its peak earlier than the rest of Izu. If you want to enjoy the vivid autumn foliage in Izu a little earlier, be sure to visit the area around the Amagi Promenade.

Joren Falls, one of Izu's top waterfalls and even mentioned in the enka song "Amagi-goe," is a must-see attraction. Located at the end of the Amagi Promenade, it can also be used as a resting spot for hikers along with the nearby "Michi no Eki Amagi-goe." This famous waterfall, recognized as one of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls, is characterized by its powerful spray that cools even in the summer when approached. The breathtaking view of water falling from a height of 25 meters allows you to feel the beauty and strength of nature, making it impossible not to be mesmerized by it.

At the end of the Amagi Promenade lies "Michi-no-Eki Amagi Koe," where you can enjoy local cuisine that will help soothe the fatigue from your hike. Try unique dishes that can only be found here, such as the refreshing "Wasabi Soft Serve" made with wasabi from Izu, which has a habit-forming aftertaste, and "Bee Wasa Ruby" (sparkling sake) made with real wasabi.
