Toyota Museum

The Toyota Museum is a museum where you can learn about the history and technology of Toyota automobiles. The permanent exhibition showcases the history of Toyota automobiles, their products, and the evolution of automobiles. At the entrance on the first floor, there is a replica of Toyota's first production passenger car, the "Toyoda AA Passenger Car" (1936), which was displayed to coincide with the museum's opening in April 1989, as well as reliefs of the Kariya Plant at the time of its construction. On the second floor, the dawn of automobiles and the birth of Japanese cars are introduced through exhibits such as the first gasoline-powered automobile made in Germany, the Benz Patent Motorwagen. On the third floor, "Advances and Diversification in Motorization" is divided into five zones to showcase and introduce the evolution and challenges of automobiles around the world from the 1950s to the present day.

At the Toyota Museum, you can participate in a free guided tour of Toyota automobiles. Reservations are not required in advance, and you can apply to participate on the day of the tour at the reception desk. You can visit and learn about the history and attractions of gasoline cars from their birth to the present day, with explanations from museum staff. It's highly recommended for car enthusiasts who want to learn more about the history and knowledge of automobiles! You can also take photos, making it a great memory for your sightseeing trip!

Inside the museum, there is a museum restaurant called AVIEW where you can enjoy authentic Western-style lunches in a casual setting! Here, you can taste special menus that can only be eaten here, such as the famous Toyota Museum Curry, limited quantity lunches, Toyota 2000GT Dog, and menus with car motifs that are also enjoyable to look at! If you get hungry while touring the museum, be sure to stop by!

Inside the Toyota Museum, there is a Toyota merchandise shop. Original goods and car models are sold, making it a must-visit for car enthusiasts! The shop offers limited edition goods that can only be purchased at the museum, such as the classic souvenir items like mugs and keychains, as well as popular items like "Museum Curry" and "Spanner Spoon" modeled after a wrench. The Toyota Museum has a library where you can learn extensively about cars. Admission is free, and anyone can use the facility with ease. There is a wealth of information available on both domestic and foreign cars! In addition, there is a section for children called "Vehicle Picture Books and Library" which collects only picture books about vehicles, making it a spot that families with children can enjoy. It's very convenient because you can quickly look up information about cars that you're interested in while in the museum.

Inside the Toyota Museum, there is a cafe called "Museum Cafe CARS&BOOKS." This cafe was created with the concept of being a place to heal the tired mind and body after seeing the exhibits, as well as a place to talk about cars with friends! The dishes, trays, and baked goods, such as coffee and mugs, are made by producers and shops in the Tokai region. In addition, a wide range of books on cars selected by a book selection group led by book director Yutaka Habu are placed in the cafe under the theme "Fun to Drive," and you can read them freely.
