History

The History of Furuyu and Kumonogawa Onsen
Furuyu and Kumonogawa Onsen is a historic hot spring resort in Saga Prefecture. Kumonogawa Onsen has the atmosphere of a therapeutic hot spring and is located in a quiet mountain gorge facing the Kase River. During the Taisho era, the writer Guo Moruo stayed there and wrote about it in his novel. Furuyu Onsen is located upstream at an altitude of 200m and has been home to the Eiryu and Tsurugami springs since ancient times. In 1967, a new source was developed. Please come and visit this historic hot spring resort!

Access

Access to Furuyu and Kumanogawa Hot Spring Resort
There are several ways to access Furuyu and Kumanogawa Hot Spring Resort. If coming from the Saga direction, take the bus bound for Furuyu from Saga Station Bus Center and you will arrive in about 30 minutes. If coming by car, it's about a 10-minute drive from the Nagasaki Expressway Yamato IC, and about a 25-minute drive from the Sanse Tunnel toll booth when coming from the Fukuoka direction. To access Furuyu Hot Spring, take the bus bound for Furuyu from Saga Station Bus Center and you will arrive in about 35 minutes. If coming by car, it's about a 15-minute drive from the Nagasaki Expressway Yamato IC, and about a 20-minute drive from the Sanse Tunnel toll booth when coming from the Fukuoka direction. Please visit Furuyu and Kumanogawa Hot Spring Resort, where you can heal your body and mind.
