Kitadai Shrine

Kitada Shrine is located in the city of Hakui, which is more than 40 kilometers away from the center of Kanazawa and close to the sea. Depending on the time of day, it takes about two hours to get there by car. Although there are few buses, there is an express bus from Kanazawa Station to Kitada Shrine. The nearest station is JR Hakui Station, which is a 10-15 minute bus or taxi ride away. On the 1st of every month, there is an event called "Tsuichigatsu Yui" and a free shuttle bus called "Hanayome Noren" operates from Kanazawa Station to Kitada Shrine to coincide with the event. However, it is reservation-only and there is only one bus in the morning and one in the afternoon. If the timing works out, it's a great deal, so please consider using it.

Kitadai Shrine, famous as a power spot and a spot for matchmaking, attracts tourists from all over the country. If you go by car, you can visit various tourist spots on the Noto Peninsula, but if not, the location is inconvenient for surrounding sightseeing. For tourism in Hakui City, if the weather is good, you can also use the "rental bicycle" available at the east exit of JR Hakui Station. The appeal is that you can tour sightseeing spots such as the Chirihama Nagisa Driveway and Chirihama Rest House at your own pace! It takes about 30 minutes to get to Kitadai Shrine, so if you are confident in your physical strength, please consider it.

Kita Shrine is a historic shrine with a prestigious history. During the Nara period, the poet Ōtomo no Yakamochi visited the main shrine while working in Noto and composed a poem that was included in the Manyoshu anthology: "If you cross the Shio-no-michi road straight, the sea of Hakui is calm in the morning. I wish I had a boat and an oar." During the time when Noto Province was part of Etchū Province, Kita Shrine was considered the most important shrine in Etchū Province and received strong protection from successive lords such as the Hatakeyama and Maeda clans.
