The thousand torii gates of Taikodani Inari Shrine are located on the mountainside overlooking the town of Tsuwano, standing at the entrance of the approach. The beautiful landscape of approximately 1,000 torii gates lined up in a tunnel-like fashion is known as one of the representative spots of Taikodani Inari Shrine. The vivid vermilion torii gates stretch approximately 300 meters in total length, and the gradual increase in number while climbing the quiet mountain path is impressive. On both sides of the torii gates, there are guardian dogs and lanterns that give a solemn atmosphere but also a friendly feeling, welcoming visitors. The Mori Ogai Memorial Hall is located next to the birthplace of the literary master known for works such as "Maihime" and "Vita Sexualis", and exhibits his possessions, original manuscripts, and materials related to Tsuwano. The building also incorporates Ogai's former residence as part of the exhibits, and is a two-story reinforced concrete structure. Admission is 600 yen, which includes the viewing fee for Mori Ogai's former residence.
