桜の季節は特に綺麗であり、広場や亀池に満開の桜が広がります。 記念館では、別子銅山と広瀬家の歴史、住友財閥との関係性について、展示資料を元に知ることが出来、実際に江戸期や明治以降に出荷された銅を棹銅やKS銅インゴットの形で触ったり持ち上げることの出来る体験コーナーも存在します。江戸から明治以降に掛けての文明開化の中で、如何に近代化と海外輸出まで事業の展開を戦略的に進めてきたのかの一端を知ることが出来ます。 また、広瀬邸の正門前にはソメイヨシノよりも早く咲く品種の桜が植えてあるようなので、まだ花見客が少ない早めの時期に行ってもタイミングが良ければ楽しめるかもしれません。 入館料は掛かりますが、中庭の日本庭園も景観が綺麗でオススメです。

幕末明治にかけての経営難で売却の危機に陥った別子銅山を再開発、近代化させた銅山中興の祖である広瀬宰平氏の足跡と、銅山の歴史を知ることができる記念館です。 敷地内にある旧広瀬邸と合わせてご覧になることをお勧めします。 写真は旧広瀬邸です。
