Ikema Bridge

Miyako Island has three long bridges connecting the surrounding islands, and "Ikema Ohashi Bridge" is one of the most popular tourist spots due to its stunning views. The reason for its popularity is the emerald green sea known as "Ikema Blue". As you go further offshore, you can enjoy a gradient that changes from cobalt blue. The area around Ikema Ohashi Bridge is very shallow, and the sea bottom is close to the surface, so when the sun shines on it, it sparkles and shines, making it mesmerizing to look at the pattern on the surface of the water. Driving through Ikema Ohashi Bridge, which runs through the middle of the sea, is an exhilarating experience!

The sea around Ikema Ohashi Bridge is relatively unaffected by weather conditions, but if possible, try to go during the low tide of the spring tide. On the second floor of a restaurant called "Kaimiru" located just after crossing the Ikema Ohashi bridge, there is an observatory where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the bridge. In fact, it's not an exaggeration to say that this is almost the only spot where you can see the Ikema Ohashi bridge from above. The restaurant also sells ice cream and juice, so why not take a break and stop by?

We also recommend visiting Nishi Hennazaki, where you can see the panoramic view of Ikema Bridge and Ikema Island. Nishi Hennazaki is a long, narrow cape located in the northwest of Miyako Island, and is one of the representative scenic spots of Miyako Island, famous for both its sunrise and sunset views, as there is nothing to obstruct the view on either side. There are well-maintained promenades and observation decks where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Ikema Bridge and Ikema Island. Be sure to take a photo of the stylish bridge that can be seen beyond the beautiful sea. As there are few tourists, you can spend a relaxing time there.
